Babylonstoren probably has the most unique pool area in the Cape Winelands. The pool is an old restored farm dam, and a wooden walkway leads to a discreet artificial beach where guests can suntan in complete privacy. There is also a sophisticated Balinese Spa complete with a Turkish bath.
Staying at Babylonstoren:
Guests get immediately catapulted back in time as the host tells them a bit more about this historic farm on the way to their cottages. The cottages are comprised of 4 two bedroom cottages, 2 one bedroom cottages and six en-suite rooms. All the cottages have been elegantly designed to breathe new life into the original farm buildings, and all of them have great views of the surrounding farm.
The Gardens:
The gardens are home beautiful plants, flowers and trees, seasonal fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and nuts. The gardeners give daily guided tours, and guests can also participate in the daily harvesting of fresh produce for the restaurant; this is a particularly fun activity for the children. Babylonstoren even has an eye-catching greenhouse for the more delicate produce and doubles up as a relaxed and cool tea room that serves light foods, teas, coffees, and wine.
Wine and dine at Babylonstoren:
Babel Restaurant serves dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, and lunch from Wednesdays to Sundays. The ingredients come straight from the estate gardens, and the portions are generous. Breakfast is an event at Babel, with almost all its food home-made and grown on the farm. Babylonstoren also has a bakery, where guests can buy different types of delicious home-made breads. There is even a delicatessen where you can purchase different cheeses and cold meats. Babylonstoren makes its own wines, and these can be tasted in their beautiful tasting rooms. Babylonstoren’s farm shop also sells wines from 28 different cellars from around the region.
