Saruni Samburu is in the 9500 hectares Kalama Community Conservancy in the pristine wilderness of Northern Kenya. The Conservancy is only 7 km from the northern border of the Samburu National Reserve.
The lodge is located far from roads and buildings and offers no signs of human civilization. This is a wilderness escape like no other; the only lodge in this conservancy, Samburu gives guests a real sense of space and isolation.
It is perched on the summit of a granite hill, offering genuinely incredible views of the sweeping rangelands and mountains of Samburuland. The lodge also looks out over waterholes that attract a variety of game including giraffe, zebra and large herds of elephant.
There are no commercial roads in the conservancy, which has aided in the expansion of an already dense leopard population. The area stands out for the abundance of northern species that cannot be found in other regions of Kenya. These include the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy zebra, Beira oryx, the lesser Kudu and also the greater kudu.
