The area is known for plenty of elusive leopards, and although often hard to find, Chelinda’s guides are excellent at seeking them. Great safaris and attentive service make Chelinda a gem in Nyika.
Why choose Chelinda Lodge:
- Large herds of roan, eland, and zebra can be seen from the lodge
- Leopard can be seen in the daytime because of the cooler to the temperatures
- Spacious and luxurious log cabins
Staying at Chelinda Lodge:
The eight two-story log cabins all come with a fireplace to keep your cabin toasty during the cooler evenings. With such a small number of cabins, stays at Chelinda are intimate and a bit more special. The cabins are large enough for families, primarily because of the big living spaces. Unlike many other places set in national parks, Chelinda Lodge also offers guests game drives at night: This gives guests a chance to spot some of the lesser seen nocturnal creatures.
There are plenty of activities in the area, in addition to the night and day game drives and bush walks. Mountain biking on the park’s good gravel road network is a great way to discover the landscape and see plenty of small animals and exciting flora. Bird lovers will also enjoy the birding safaris, with the park’s abundant populations of bird species.
The road to Chelinda is long and somewhat rough, so this spot is better suited to adults without very young children. From Thazima Gate, the drive is approximately 6 hours.
