Karen Blixen Camp

The camp was named after and inspired by Karen Blixen, who is known for her book- turned- movie “Out of Africa” where she recounts her adventures whilst living in Kenya. The camp looks out over the Mara River where animals often come to drink. The camp’s atmosphere transports you back to colonial Africa, with antique furniture and collectibles used in the decor. The living spaces of the camp are open, allowing nature to merge seamlessly into the interiors. The open living spaces also make the vast wilderness visible, so no matter where you are you will have views of the bush and animals. The tents are so luxurious that they come complete with Persian rugs. All of the tents are private and have phenomenal views. It is definitely one of the most romantic camps in Africa.

The Chefs at the camp have made sure to carry on Karen Blixen’s passion for cooking, and with the aid of historical books have managed to find her original recipes. Now guests get to enjoy the same meals that Karen and the early explorers had back in the 1920s.
